[:en]Nicolás Medina, an undergraduate student of bachelor’s degree in physics, mention in astronomy of Universidad de Valparaíso and MAS member, will present the lecture: “Variable Pulsating Stars”
This open lecture will be held at 563-A Abtao Street, Cerro Concepción, Valparaíso this next July 26th at 6pm. “Variable Pulsating Stars” is part of a serie of lectures and outreach workshops that students of this institution are organizing in order to help a fellow student who is recovering from a serious illness.
According to Nicolás, in this occasion his lecture will be focused on the type of pulsation made by Cepheid variables, its fundamental characteristics that differentiate them from the rest of the stars and the historical significance that its study has had in XX century astrophysics.

www.astrosaval.cl [:es]“Estrellas Variables Pulsantes” es el nombre de la charla que el próximo sábado 26 de julio presentará Nicolás Medina, alumno de Licenciatura en Física Mención Astronomía de la Universidad de Valparaíso y estudiante perteneciente al Instituto Milenio de Astrofísica MAS.
Esta charla, abierta a todo público, se desarrollará en Calle Abtao, 563-A, Cerro Concepción, Valparaíso a las 18:30 horas, y se enmarca dentro de una serie de charlas y talleres de divulgación a beneficio, que el centro de alumnos de la carrera está realizando para Abraham Pradenas, también estudiante de astronomía, que se recupera de una grave enfermedad.
Según Nicolás en esta ocasión su ponencia abordará principalmente el tipo de pulsación que realizan las variables Cefeidas, sus características intrínsecas que las diferencian del resto de las estrellas y la importancia histórica que su estudio ha tenido en la astrofísica del siglo XX.
